About Emission Statement

Emission Statement has been measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions for Australian and New Zealand organisations since 2006 — before the NGER scheme existed, and long before climate disclosure became an obligation under the Corporations Act.

The frameworks have changed many times since. The underlying work has not: establish what an organisation consumes, convert it correctly, document how you got there, and give the client something useful to act on.

What we do

Our two core services are NGER reporting for organisations required to lodge with the Clean Energy Regulator, and carbon audits for organisations and events that need a defensible emissions baseline. Australia’s mandatory climate disclosure regime now sits on top of both, and increasingly drives both.

Alongside these we work on supply chain and Scope 3 analysis, voluntary disclosure such as CDP, carbon offset arrangement, and sustainability education and training. These are extensions of the core work rather than separate businesses.

How we work

We prepare to an assurance-ready standard. Reports and inventories are built so that a third-party assurer can pick them up and work with them — figures traced to source records, methods and factors documented, and estimates labelled as estimates. We are preparers, not assurers, and we do not review reports we have prepared ourselves. Keeping that boundary clear is part of what makes the work credible.

Data comes from source records. Meter data, retailer accounts, supplier statements, fleet and fuel systems — rather than a spreadsheet sent out and hoped for.

You work directly with the person doing the analysis. Engagements are led personally, not handed down, and you deal with the same person from scoping through to the final report.

We aim to build your capability. Most long-standing clients take on more of the process internally each year, and we support that. Our role is the technical work that genuinely needs specialist input.

Standards and frameworks

Our work is prepared in accordance with the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008, the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, and ISO 14064-1, depending on the engagement. We also work across AASB S2, the Safeguard Mechanism, CDP, and Climate Active.

Who we work with

Manufacturers, miners, retailers, councils and government entities, schools, church and community organisations, aged care and community service providers, and major events. Some client relationships now run to more than fifteen years, through several changes of framework and several changes of the people responsible internally.

That continuity is part of the service. For long-standing clients we hold the meter-level history and prior-year working papers, so each reporting year begins from a known base rather than a blank page.
